welcome to lincolnshire county foods...
Lincolnshire County Foods is a self help marketing organisation whose members are speciality food producers. The aim of the Group is to develop the speciality food sector within the county and, through promotional activities, increase public awareness of the wealth of speciality foods produced within Lincolnshire and ultimately increase the sale of speciality foods within and beyond the county.
Based on this aim, the Lincolnshire County Food Group launched their first Lincolnshire Poacher Competition in 1990. James Pinchbeck then of Joe Buckner Associates led the project. Initially the competition was designed to promote Lincolnshire Pork products and encourage high standards of butchery. Previously the Lincolnshire Council of Butchers had organised the event held in 1987 at Springfields in Spalding.
Assistance then was provided by the Meat and Livestock Commission. Building on the success of the first competition a similar event was held in 1992. The competition achieved its aim and has become a regular biannual event ever since. Winning a prestigious award at the Lincolnshire Poacher Competition soon became recognised both within the meat trade and by the public at large as recognition for having achieved a particularly high standard of excellence within the speciality food sector.
